Dallas ISD Beeping Egg Hunt April 2023

The Dallas ISD Beeping Egg Hunt is a yearly event that ABCTX has had the pleasure to support time and again. We were excited to provide them with a 2023 ECC Grant

Katie Granados, M.Ed. Lead Teacher of the Vision Program at Dallas ISD had this to say about the event:

Our Beeping Egg Hunt was held on 2 consecutive days to meet the various needs of our students.

“Sensory Day” was our first event ever and was created for our students with multiple impairments and with limited mobility. These students participated in different activities that explored various textures, fine and gross motor movement, concept development, and crafts modified for their unique needs. Students, who typically do not have opportunities to leave their campus, came together with their families to participate in meaningful activities, meet other students and families with similar needs, and enjoy a fun and relaxed family activity.

Our second day we had our traditional Beeping Egg Hunt at Flagpole Hill. Students around the district participated in various crafts, activities, and fine/gross motor movement. Students and families were able to enjoy and make memories together while meeting other families. There was a collaboration with our OTs, PTs, and Adapted PE department.

Both events supported our students’ recreation and leisure needs, social skills, concept development, and compensatory skills.

Thank you, Katie, for the wonderful work you and your peers do for the students with visual impairments in your district!
